Before placing your order, please note that we are a traditional German bakery — and that means our cakes are a little different from what you may be used to in North America.

We focus on flavor, not sugar. Our products are generally less sweet, and we do not use oil or artificial additives. Most importantly, our cakes are made with a German Biskuitboden (European sponge), rather than an American-style sponge cake.

German Biskuitboden (European Sponge)

  • Light and airy from whipped eggs

  • Low in sugar and fat (no oil or butter in the batter)

  • Firmer structure → supports creamy fillings

  • Balanced, less sweet flavor

American Sponge Cake

  • Softer and naturally more moist

  • Often made with oil or buttermilk

  • Sweeter and richer in taste
